Four-year-old locked inside Anganwadi centre in Odisha’s Kendrapara

Kendrapara: In a shocking incident, a kid was locked inside an Anganwadi Centre in Nimapur village of Pattamundai block, here today.

According to reports, four-year-old, son of Sushanta Mallick was left behind by an Anganwadi worker, who locked the centre and left for the day. When the child did not return home, family members and villagers launched a search operation to locate him.

Later, he was rescued by the locals after hearing cries from inside the locked Anganwadi centre, where he was tapped for about 2.5 hours. He was then rushed to Pattamundai sub-divisional hospital.

This incident has brewed unrest among the villagers and the said Aanganwadi worker is yet to be traced.

Worth mentioning, Sonepur district administration dismissed an Anganwadi worker and helper for throwing hot water at a toddler in Jatiapalli village, reported on May 14 this year.
