Fraudulent land deals in Odisha: Balangir Tahasildar, Additional Tahasildar suspended

Balangir: On charges of involvement in fraudulent land transactions, the Odisha government suspended Balangir Tahasildar Maghban Bag and another government official.

After Banagir Collector Chanchal Rana recommended the government to take an action against Balangir Tahasildar Maghban Bag and Additional Tahasildar Harekrushna Rout, the duo was put on suspension on Wednesday night.

The Balangir Collector  earlier formed a two-member inquiry committee following allegations of land purchases in the name of dead persons. Accordingly, Additional Collector Anant Narayan Singh Laguri and Sub-Collector Lambodar Dharua, who were members of the inquiry committee, questioned the Balangir Tahasildar and Tahasil office employees on the matter till late last night.

The two-member committee submitted the inquiry report to the Balangir Collector who recommended the government for an action against the Balangir Tahasildar and the Additional Tahasildar.

On Wednesday, the police arrested Tahasil Office Record Keeper Makardhwaja Kalasai for his alleged involvement in the case.

A case has been registered against nine persons including the Balangir Tahasildar Maghban Bag in connection with the fraudulent land deals.
