Washington DC/Bhubaneswar: In order to get more Americans get vaccinated, US President Joe Biden has come up with an interesting new incentive.
President Biden on Wednesday announced a ‘month of action’ to administer as many vaccine jabs as possible ahead of the 4th of July holiday.
The Biden administration hopes to get 70% of the country vaccinated before the American Independence Day and has announced a slew of incentives to reach that mark.
"The more people we get vaccinated, the more success we're going to have in the fight against the virus,” President Biden said from the White House.
From cash giveaways to sports tickets, the US government has implemented several sweetners to entice Americans into getting the jab. The latest in line is a round of beer.
Popular American brewing company Anheuser-Busch has announced an offer of a round of free beer to every American, aged 21 and above, who gets vaccinated.
“Get a shot and have a beer,” said President Biden in its advertisement. The 78-year-old himself does not partake in drinking alcohol.
Additionally, President Biden is set to assign Vice President Kamala Harris to lead a ‘We Can Do This’ vaccination tour to encourage more and more Americans to get the shots.
Meanwhile, over 136 million people over 12 years of age in the US have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of Wednesday, accounting for 48.6 per cent, according to data of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
