Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a free breakfast scheme in government schools in Odisha if the party is voted to power in the state in the ensuing Assembly elections, said Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi.
"Along with the Mid-day Meal programme, the BJP will roll out a scheme called 'Apurti' in schools to encounter malnourishment in Odisha if we come to power," Sarangi said briefing media about Sankalp Patra (poll manifesto) of the party recently released by the BJP's national president JP Nadda in Bhubaneswar.
Under the scheme, the students will be provided breakfast soon after they reach school and they will get their Mid-day meal later in the day. She said that the party will launch Poshan 3.0 to ensure that no child will remain hungry in Odisha.
Addressing a presser, Sarangi said that the BJP will focus on two major fronts -- work for all, water to all land and roof for all and 1 trillion dollar economy.
"We are going to build Odisha's economy worth 1 trillion dollar by 2029 after the party's CM candidate takes oath on June 10, 2024," she said.
Explaining about the poll manifesto, Sarangi, who is the BJP's MP candidate for Bhubaneswar seat, said that the Sankalp Patra has been divided into 5 major segments -- welfare for all, roadmap for development, improvement in law and order situation, building for future and inclusive development of women.
"We will provide piped water to 26 lakh houses under Jal Jeevan Mission after the party forms the government in Odisha. Under PM Awas Yojana, we will build Rs 15 lakh houses (10 lakh in villages and 5 lakh in urban areas). The slum dwellers will get 600 sqft area land with valid RoR document. The weavers between 40 and 60 age groups will get Rs 3,000 per month. The Government will provide Rs 3,500 to weavers above 60 years of age," the BJP leader said.
As per the poll manifesto of the BJP, Odisha will have second AIIMS if the party is voted to power. She said that there will be another AIIMS in Sambalpur. The future BJP government in Odisha will launch Mukhya Mantri Arogya Nidhi Yojana worth Rs 500 crore for people belonging to tribal communities suffering from deadly diseases like Thalassemia, Anthrax, Sickle cell or anemia.
She said that three cancer treatment hospitals will come up in three divisions -- northern, central and southern -- of Odisha.
"For farmers, the government will procure paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal and expand the irrigation facility by three-fold. All sugar mills that have been closed will be reopened. Every project has to have a timeline," she said adding "the domestic investment will be Rs 2.50 lakh crore and foreign direct investment will be Rs 2 billion dollar by 2029 in Odisha.
"The BJP will give tablets to students from class 9 to 12. Equal work equal pay will be implemented for teachers of all categories in the state if the party comes power," she said.
For safe delivery of pregnant women, the BJP will launch 'Matrutwa Surkhya Yojana under which the pregnant women will get Rs 21,000 and 6 nutrition kits. There will be ambulance scheme called 'Sugam' that will be rolled out in service of pregnant women for hassle-free transportation from houses to hospitals and from hospitals to houses. A helpline number will be issued for them to contact doctors and nurses in their need, she said.
In the manifesto, the party promised to fill 1.5 lakh government posts in various departments, will hike monthly salary of Anganwadi workers to Rs 12,000 and Anganwadi helpers will get Rs 8,000 salary per month.
The BJP will provide Rs 2 lakh to little talented girls belonging to BPL families under Mu Medhabi Jhia Yojana. Under the scheme, the government will deposit Rs 2 lakh in name of the girl child after her birth. The amount can be encashed when the beneficiary reaches 21 years age.
The party will launch 'Subhadra' scheme to improve financial condition of women in the state. Under the scheme, every woman will get a cash voucher worth Rs 50,000. The voucher can be encashed within two years. The party also aims at creating 25 lakh 'Lakhpati' didis by 2027 by helping the women SHGs in the state.
"We are determined to increase the pace of development in Odisha. We will be working as per our roadmap. Everything will be closely monitored, Sarangi said.
