Dimple Patnaik, a Bakul volunteer said, “It has been established that if one needs to compensate for the trees lost in the last decade, each individual on the planet must plant and nurture two trees every year for the next 10 years”. The volunteers used this opportunity to bring awareness among citizens and motivate people to adopt the cultural practice of gifting plants on social occasions such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, festivals, etc. so that it becomes a part of the everyday lives of people.
