Bhubaneswar: Good news for the residents of Odisha's capital city as they can enjoy free Wi-Fi service in various areas of the city from today onwards.

Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited's free Wi-Fi service 'Bhubaneswar Me WiFi' was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today at the state secretariat here.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said similar free Wi-Fi service will be made available in Cuttack, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Rourkela and Puri towns in coming days.

According to official sources, as many as 518 Wi-Fi hotspots having 1800 access points will be created across the city. Under the service, each user will be provided with 30 minutes of free internet service subjected to a usage limit of 250 MB data at a speed upto 2 Mbps per day.

One Wi-Fi hotspot would be able to handle as many as 150 users at a given point of time. After consumption of the free data, users can opt top-up recharge for continuation of the service.

As many as 100 Wi-Fi hotspots having 275 access points have been launched on day one and the free internet will be available from KIIT to Governor House, Acharya Vihar to AG square, Sishu Bhawan to Vani Vihar and NALCO square to AG square, sources said.
