Fresh 20 cases strip Odisha district of COVID-19 free status in hours

Bhubaneswar: Few hours after Jagatsinghpur district was declared as corona free with recovery of all patients,  20 persons tested positive for the deadly virus in the district taking the state’s total to 896, informed district Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra.

Of the 20 patients , 19 are residents of Nuagaon block and one is from Kujanga block. All the new patients were lodged in quarantine centres after their return from West Bengal, sources said. Now, the total number of cases in the districts surged to 25, including 20  active cases.  

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state surged to 615 while the number of recovered patients now stands at 277. So far, four persons have died due to the respiratory disease in the state.

Earlier in  the day, the state Government had informed that Bhubaneswar and Jagatsinghpur have no active cases of COVID-19 .

It is pertinent to mention here that,out of total 896 cases in the state,  774 have been reported from different quarantine centres across the state.
