The district administration imposed section 144 and deployed 18 platoons of police forces to make a fresh attempt to go ahead with the construction work at the disputed site.
The district Collector, SP and other officials of the district administration held an important meeting yesterday to go ahead with the construction work of the proposed bridge on the national highway no. 215. It was decided at the meeting to start construction work of the proposed bridge.
It may be recalled here that there has been a longstanding dispute over the location of the bridge site. Villagers opposing the bridge at the particular site and police had earlier clashed over the issue on several occasions. Earlier attempts of the administration to go ahead with the construction of the proposed bridge had failed.
