Fresh cyclonic circulation may form over Bay of Bengal soon

Bhubaneswar: A fresh cyclonic circulation may form over the Bay of Bengal soon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis issued on Thursday.

“There is likelihood of formation of a cyclonic circulation over east central Bay of Bengal during later part of week 1 (Week 1: 15.09.2023-21.09.2023) with west-northwestwards movement towards north Bay of Bengal in the beginning of week 2 (Week 2: 22.09.2023-28.09.2023),” the outlook said.

On the other hand, the well marked low pressure area over north Odisha and neighbourhood now lies over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood. It is likely to move across east Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours, the IMD said this morning.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued Yellow Warning for several districts of the state for today.

“Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh,” the Meteorological Centre said.
