Fresh low pressure forms over Bay of Bengal; Will it impact Odisha?

Bhubaneswar: Rainy days are expected in coming days for some parts of coastal States as a fresh low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.

As per weather bulletin released today morning, a low pressure area lies over southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining Sri Lanka off Tamil Nadu coast and the associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 3.1 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move westwards during next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, a trough in easterlies runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with this Low Pressure Area to Northwest Bay of Bengal.

Under the influence of above systems, heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated/few places very likely over Tamil Nadu and isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala & Mahe during October 29 to November 1, 2021.

Heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during October 29 to 31 with isolated very heavy falls on
October 29. Heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Coastal & South Interior Karnataka on October 31and over Rayalaseema
during October 29 to 30, 2021.

Even as no warning has been issued for Odisha, Bhubaneswar MeT predicted rainfall for several districts till November 5, 2021.

According to regional meteorological centre, Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the
districts of Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during October 29 to 30, 2021.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during October 30 to 31, 2021.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada,
Nabarangpur, Gajapati and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha between October 31 and November 1.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during November 1 to 2, 2021.

The weather is likely to be partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thundershower in Bhubaneswar and neighbourhood.

However, no large change both in maximum and minimum temperature during next 3-4 days over the districts of Odisha.
