Fresh low pressure forms over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area has formed over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean. The system is likely to become more marked during next 48 hours, informed India Meteorological Department today.

“A Low Pressure Area lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move east-northeastwards and become more marked during next 48 hours,” the IMD tweeted today.

Under its influence, isolated heavy rainfall over Nicobar Islands is likely on December 19, squally weather (40-50 kmph gusting upto 60 kmph) likely over southeast Bay of Bengal on December 18 and over southeast Bay of Bengal adjoining south Andaman sea on December 19 and 20.

However, no warning has been issued for Odisha coasts.
