Fresh low pressure likely; heavy rain in Odisha till July 29

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted that a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around July 28.

In the latest bulletin, the IMD said, “Yesterday’s well marked low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts now lies as a low pressure area over Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level.”

Under the influence of the low pressure, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in different parts of the state till July 29 morning, informed Regional MeT Centre .

Weather forecast and warning for different districts for next five days:

Day 1: Yellow Warning:  Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Day 2: Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore

Day 3: Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Nabarangpur.

Day 4: Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Day 5: Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur.
