Fresh low pressure likely to form around November 13; Know forecasted movement

Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around November 13, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

The forecasted system may move west-northwestwards and become more marked in the subsequent 48 hours.

“A fresh Low Pressure Area is likely to form over south Andaman sea and neighbourhood around 13th Nov. It is likely to move west northwestwards and become more marked during subsequent 48 hours,” the IMD said.

As per the IMD GFS model, the system may head towards Andhra Pradesh and reach coast around November 17 (See pics below).

In another weather-related development, the existing low pressure area over Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression during the next 12 hours and reach near north Tamil Nadu coast by the early morning of 11th November.

“The Low Pressure Area over southeast Bay of Bengal lay as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over southeast and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal at 0530 hrs IST of today the 10th November. It lay over central parts of south Bay of Bengal at 0830 hrs IST. It is likely to concentrate into a Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal during next 12 hours, move west– northwestwards and reach near north Tamil Nadu coast by the early morning of 11th November, 2021,” the IMD said in its bulletin issued this noon.

“Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu & adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Karaikal & Sriharikota around Cuddalore by the evening of 11th November 2021,” the bulletin added.
