Fresh low pressure to trigger more rains in Odisha from Aug 3

Bhubaneswar, Aug 1:

The Agromet advisory of the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) today said the state will have a fresh spell of rainfall from August 3 under the influence of another depression brewing over the Bay of Bengal.

rains“A cyclonic circulation is likely to be formed over north Bay of Bengal on August 2 and turn into a low pressure in the adjoining area on the next day from where it would move in the north-west direction towards Chhattisgarh. Since the low pressure would be tilted towards the south-west direction, most parts of the area in the coastal and southern districts would receive more rainfall in the next four days,” a release issued by agromet advisory said today.

While moderate rainfall is likely in some parts of coastal and central Odisha, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of in the north, west and south Odisha during the period.

According to a release by the local Met office here this evening, the rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 5.30 PM today was the highest in Sundargarh with 91 mm while there was moderate rainfall in Puri (13), Baripada (12), Jharsuguda (22.2), Talcher (12), Bhawanipatna (18), Titlagarh (10) and Dhenkanal (10).
