Fresh low pressure triggers rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 9:

Many parts of Odisha, especially the north Odisha districts, experienced heavy rainfall under the influence of a low pressure that formed over north-east Bay of Bengal this afternoon.

The Met office has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in north Odisha and light to moderate rains at some places in south Odisha in the next 72 hours.

According to the Met department release this evening, 112.4 mm rainfall recorded in Baripada was the highest during the last 24 hours (till 5.30 PM today) in the state.

The rainfall amount recorded at other centres is as follows: Baleswar (85.2), Chandbali (29.6), Cuttack (30), Angul (16), Keonjhar (40.5), Sundargarh (17.6), Bhawanipatna (32), Bolangir (41.4), Koraput (44.4), Phulbani (18.3), Malkangiri (16.4), Sonepur (20.2) and Dhenkanal (24).
