Fresh trouble for Odisha comedian Papu Pom Pom

Cuttack: Popular Ollywood comedian Tatwa Prakash Satapathy, famous as Papu Pom Pom, landed in trouble again as an FIR was lodged against him for allegedly misbehaving with a woman advocate yesterday.

Babita Kar, founder of Bhubaneswar-based NGO Friends Foundation, and her friend Satya Ranjan Samal have lodged the case against the actor today at Sadar police station here alleging that the comedian abused them and threatned to kill them.

As per the complaint, Papu Pom Pom and three of his accomplices hurled verbal abuses at Kar and her frined while they were having dinner at a hotel in the city on Monday.

The actor, however, rubbished the allegation saying he, if required, will take legal recourse in connection with the matter.

“The allegation against me is totally baseless and, if yes, then she should come up with evidence,” the actor challenged.

Meanwhile, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh said they have started an investigation into the matter on the basis of Kar’s complaint.

“A case has been registered in Sadar police station by an activist from Bhubaneswar. They had come for dinner in a hotel where they had a small dispute. Our team has already interrogated the staff of the hotel regarding the incident,” Singh said.

Notably, the advocate, associated with the NGO was instrumental in “exposing” the actor in the ‘casting couch’ case in 2016. Following this he was arrested from Puri on June 30, 2016 and had to be in jail for around 2.5 months. Later, the Orissa High Court granted him conditional bail on August 10, 2016.
