From IAF personnel to Odisha Civil Services Exam topper: Sudev’s journey so far

Patana: Meet the topper in the State, Sudev Kumar Prusty who has cracked the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Examination 2021. The OCS results were out a day before. Praises are being heaped on Sudev by people from all sections of society for his success.

“I used to work as a cook in the village school and, at times, in farmlands as a daily wager for upbringing as well as providing education to Sudev and his siblings. He had vowed to give the price of my hardships. I am very happy for his success,” the topper’s mother expressed.

In a rare feat, Sudev came out successful in his maiden attempt and sans any coaching support.

Sudev hails from Tangarpada village under Patana block of Keonjhar district. The OCS topper is presently working in Indian Air Force (IAF). He is the younger son of Bhikari Charan Prusty and Sabitri Prusty.

Bhikari was earlier imparting education as an honorary teacher in a private school. Subsequently, he left the job and started farming activities.

Sudev was a meritorious student since his childhood days. After completing his elementary education at a UP school and then high school in Tangarpada, he was admitted to Plus II Science classes at Dharanidhar Autonomous College of Keonjhar district. He joined the IAF after Plus II.

Sudev has already served the country for about 15 years. Initially, he was working in Punjab and has been posted in Guwahati of Assam. Earlier, he completed his Graduation through a correspondence course, simultaneously being in service. The OCS topper had a strong passion to join administrative services. Accordingly, he was preparing for the same.

Sudev belonging to the SEBC category has emerged as the topper in the recruitment examination. A total of 432 candidates, including 164 women, have qualified the test.
