Frontline Covid warrior in Odisha’s Sambalpur succumbs to virus

Sambalpur: The COVID-19 claimed the life of a frontline Covid warrior in Sambalpur district. The deceased was identified as Petrus Tigga who was working as a Constable at Rengali Police Station in the district.

While being on COVID-19 duty, the Constable contracted the virus a few days back. He succumbed to the disease on Monday while undergoing treatment at a COVID hospital.

The Sambalpur district administration paid homage and salute to the Constable in presence of government officials today.

Meanwhile, the Sambalpur administration today partially modified the weekend shutdown order in the district. As per an order, the administration cancelled the weekend shutdown on August 15, 22 and 23.

However, it announced a shutdown in the district on August 16 and 17.

So far, as many as 1,195 persons from Sambalpur district tested positive for COVID-19. The number of active cases in the district stands at 687. The recovery count in the district is at 687 till yet.
