Fuel price hike: Private buses to stay off roads in Odisha from Nov 16!

Bhubaneswar: In view of continuous hike in fuel prices, All Odisha Private Bus Owners Association warned to suspend bus operation across the State from November 16 if the State Government does not consider to reduce VAT on fuel.

“The Government has been given an ultimatum till November 15 to reduce State VAT on fuel, or else the private buses will remain off roads from November 16 for an indefinite period,” said State Private Bus Owners’ Association Secretary Debendra Kumar Sahoo today.

The buses are facing huge losses due to price hike in fuel and other essential commodities. The State Government’s support is necessary to continue services, he told media.

The association set the deadline for the State Government demanding reduction of fuel tax in the State after its General Council meeting held today.

Worth mentioning, the fuel prices increased significantly in past over a month putting additional burden on the taxpayers. Today, the diesel price in Bhubaneswar stood at Rs 105.07 per litre and the petrol price hiked to 108.55 per litre.
