Full-fledged budget in Odisha unlikely this time

Bhubaneswar: In view of forthcoming Panchayat and ULB polls in Odisha, the State Government is likely to present an interim budget instead of a full-fledged budget this time.

Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro informed it while speaking to reporters here today.

“As the Municipality and Notified Area Council (NAC) polls will be held after Panchayat elections, the State Government may introduce an interim budget instead of a full-fledged one this time,” Patro told reporters.

When asked about schedule of budget session, he said, “The Governor or State Government has not moved any proposal for the budget session yet. The discussion on presenting this year’s budget is still underway.”

Worth mentioning that the three-tier Panchayat elections are scheduled to be held in five phases on February 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24.The counting of votes will take place on February 26, 27 and 28.
