Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: It was a proud moment for all Odias to see the state's iconic Konark Wheel that was displayed for the grand welcome of world leaders at G20 Summit in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted world leaders and foreign delegates to the G20 Leaders' Summit at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition and Convention Centre by standing in front of a replica of Konark Wheel from Odisha's Sun Temple.

The Konark Sun Temple in Puri district of Odisha was built by the Ganga dynasty King Langula Narasinghadev-1 during 13th century. The iconic wheel with 24 spokes is also adapted into India's national flag. It shows the country's ancient wisdom, advanced civilisation and architectural excellence.

The rotating motion of the Konark wheel, symbolises time, Kalachakra as well as progress and continuous change.

It serves as a powerful symbol of the wheel of democracy that reflects the resilience of democratic ideals, and commitment to progress in society.

The world leaders including US President Joe Biden are in New Delhi to attend the G20 Summit hosted by India. The first session of the global event is scheduled to begin around 10.30 am under this year's theme 'One Earth'.
