Gadkari inaugurates, lays foundation stones of NH projects worth Rs 6600 Cr in Odisha

Puri: Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari today inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 28 National Highway (NH) projects worth Rs 6600 Crore in Odisha.

The inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony was conducted through a video conferencing programme held at Puri as the Union Minister had to cancel his trip to Odisha at the last minute.

During the programme, Gadkari virtually inaugurated two projects — 79 km long 4-lane between Bharagoda and Singhra on NH 49 worth Rs 1203 Crore and 78 km long 6-lane road between Chandikhole and Bhadrak on NH 16 worth Rs 2035 Crore.

He laid the foundation stones of 26 various projects in Odisha. These include — Kandarpur-Balikuda road widening on NH-55 worth Rs 500 Crore, Balikuda-Mulakani Khand widening on NH-55 worth Rs 512 Crore, construction of 6.47 km long road from Chhatrapur to Gopalpur port worth Rs 250 Crore, construction of 8 UP (underpass), 3 VUP (vehicular underpass), LVUP (light vehicular underpass), PUP (pedestrians underpass) between Bharagoda and Singhra Khand road on the NH 49 at cost of Rs 203 Crore, Nayagarh Town bypass construction on NH-57 worth Rs 300 Crore, a Railway Overbridge construction at Matiapada on Puri-Konark Road on the NH-316 at cost of Rs 138 Crore, Khurda Town bypass construction on the NH- 57 worth Rs 157 Crore, Jeypore Town bypass construction on the NH-26 worth Rs 135 Crore, Dasapalla Town bypass construction on the NH -57 worth Rs 156 Crore, Nabarangpur Town bypass construction on the NH-26 worth Rs 169 Crore, Rayagada and JK Pur Town bypass construction on the NH 326 worth Rs 324 Crore, construction of a bridge on Madhupur – Badabanta Khand road on the NH 20 worth Rs 199 Crore, Dhogaon and Poudamari Khand road widening work on the NH 326 worth Rs 186.52 Crore.

Besides, 13 more National Highway projects will be carried out in the state.

The ceremony was attended by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and BJP’s National Spokesperson Sambit Patra in Puri.
