Gambling den busted in Odisha’s Bolangir, 5 held

Bolangir: The police today arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in gambling in Bolangir Town police limits and recovered Rs 33,000 cash, playing cards and five mobile phones and 13 vehicles.

Acting on a reliable information, the Bolangir town PS officials raided a place in the forest park at Bijakhaman. At about 11.50 AM they reached near the spot and saw that about 12-13 persons were gathered with closer proximity to each other and were involved in gambling using playing cards by betting of money.

After seeing the advent police team, the persons gathered at the spot started to escape away leaving their motor vehicles at the spot. The police team chased the persons and were able to apprehend only five of them.

The accused are Sujit Dogra of Palaceline, Pradeep Kumar Meher of Ramaipada, Iswar Nanda of Salepali, Paramananda Putel of Tulsinagar and Ashok Seth of Indranagar under Bolangir Town police station.

As the persons were gathered around with closer proximity to each other which is likely to cause infectious disease which can cause death and they were involved in gambling by betting of money using playing cards, a case has been registered under sections 188/269/270/271/34 IPC/ 3 OPG Act.
