Gambling den busted in Odisha’s Nuapada, 7 held

Nuapada: At a time when Odisha is fighting against COVID-19, seven persons were arrested today in Nuapada town for their alleged involvement in gambling. The Nuapada Sadar Police also seized Rs 14,620 cash, two motorcycles, two mobile phones and 148 packets of country liquor from their possession.

Acting on reliable information, a police team raided the Shiva Temple premises located behind the LIC office. The accused engaged in gambling verbally used the cops and threaten to kill them.

But somehow the police team overpowered the accused and nabbed them.

The accused are Ashok Rout of Pagarpani village, Shankar Naik of Sahisapada, Keshab Kumar Sahoo of Telipada, Abhinash Naik of ShivaShakti Nagar, Akash Patel of PWD Colony, Bijaya Kumar Podh of Revnue Colony and Mohan Gauda of Gaudapada.

After registering a case, the police forwarded the accused to the court.
