Gambling den raided in Odisha’s Kandhamal; 7 held, Rs 40k cash seized

Kandhamal: Ahead of Kumar Purnima festive season, police raided a gambling den in G. Udayagiri area in Kandhamal district and arrested seven persons for their involvement in illegal act.

A team of police led by G. Udayagiri Police Station IIC Naresh Kumar Sahoo conducted a raid on the gambling den on Tuesday night and nabbed the seven accused persons.

The police also seized Rs 40,000 cash from possessions of the gamblers.

During the festive season and ahead of State’s famous Kumar Purnima festival, the gambling is increasing in G. Udayagiri area.

The anti-gambling mission will continue and action will be taken against persons involved in gambling in the area, said the G.Udayagiri IIC.

On Monday, the police had raided a gambling den in the area and seized Rs 1.35 lakh from the site.
