Gambling racket busted in Berhampur; 15 arrested

Berhampur: Odisha police busted a gambling racket and arrested as many as 15 persons in Berhampur town of Ganjam district last night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police headed by Berhampur Town Police IIC raided the gambling den at Bhimaraopeta Sahi and caught 15 gamblers red-handed.

The cops seized Rs 7,68,710 cash, 16 mobile phones, one plastic mat, 104 number of playing cards and five motorcycles from possession of the gamblers, police sources said.

The arrested persons will be produced before the court today, said Berhampur SDPO Pinak Mishra.

Earlier on October 5, the Berhampur police had busted a gambling racket with arrest of 25 gamblers. This is the second crackdown on gambling den being operated in the area barely after a week.
