According to reports, the victim hailing from Mangalabag area in Cuttack had boarded a train to Jharsuguda from where she was to catch a connecting train on September 8.

However, she was allegedly abducted by three unidentified miscreants from the railway station here. The tormentors raped her and dumped her in a canal at Banjari village, 7 km from where she was kidnapped.

The villagers spotted her in a critical condition in the swampy area two days after the alleged incident. After being informed by the locals, a women’s organisation filed a complaint with Badamal police station today based on the ordeal narrated by the victim.

“Her family members have been informed about the incident and the accused will be nabbed very soon,” said Jharsuguda SDPO Bijay Nanda.
