Gangster Haider’s escape from SCB: Six Odisha cops suspended

Sambalpur: Taking stringent action for dereliction in duty for which dreaded gangster Haider managed to escape from the SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack, Sambalpur SP today suspended six police officials including a Havildar.

The six police personnel included — Ramesh Chandra Dehury (Havildar), Mohammad Mousum (Constable), Bulbul Sahu (Constable), Deepak Sahu (Constable), Umakanta Behera (Constable) and Sudhansu Majhi (Constable).

The six were deployed for security of the gangster, who fled from the hospital during treatment on Saturday evening. They were placed under suspension following departmental inquiry.

Source said that Constable Mohammad Mousum, who was on duty for the gangster at the hospital, was found unconscious in front of the cabin where Haider was admitted. His gun was kept aside. A nurse reported the incident to the police.

Gangster Haider, who is convicted and sentenced to life in connection with two murder cases, was undergoing treatment at the SCB Hospital in Cuttack since March 23.  He was serving jail term at the Balangir Circle Jail.
