Cuttack: The Cuttack Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court today awarded five-year jail term to notorious gangster Sushant Dhal Samanta in connection with two different cases lodged with Bidanasi police station here.
Source said the court awarded 3 years jail term to Sushant for illegal possession of firearms and 2 years imprisonment for illegal use of the firearms, along with a fine of Rs 25,000, each.
It may be mentioned here that Sushant had opened fire at a police official in Bidanasi area here in 1999. He was also involved in various criminal activities, including tender fixing in Kendrapara.
Both Sushant and his gangster brother Sushil Dhalsamant were arrested by a special team of the Commissionerate Police in January, 2016.
