Ganjam’s COVID-19 tally crosses 6000-mark; Berhampur alone reports 186 new cases

Berhampur:  In less than a week, COVID-19 hotspot district Ganjam district witnessed over 1000 positive cases breaching the 6,000-mark today. With 371 new cases, highest single-day spike so far, the district’s tally surged to 6362.

Besides, the southern district reported three COVID deaths.  They were a 40-year-old female, suffering from Diabetes and Hydronephrosis, a 61-year-old male, suffering from Diabetes and a 60-year-old male, suffering from Diabetes and Hypertension.

Today, Ganjam alone shared 34.4 % of the total 1078 cases detected in the state. And out of 371 cases detected from the district, 186 belong to Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area.  The fresh 371 cases, include 25 corona warriors, two persons with travel history and 344 persons with active contact with previous positive cases.

The number of active cases in the district now stands at 2292. However, 4008 persons have recovered from the disease while 62 succumbed to the virus.
