Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today sealed a garment wholesale and retail store and collected Rs 75,000 fine from the owner.
Assistant Commissioner of the city municipal corporation, Lilan Prasad Sahoo informed a joint team of BMC South East Zone and Central Enforcement Squad raided the Maa Tarini Bastralaya located near Kalpana Square after getting information on violation of the Covid protocol.
As there was heavy rush at the store without adhering to social distancing norm, the squad sealed it. The city municipal corporation also imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 on the store owner.
Besides, the squad collected Rs 500 from each customer present at Maa Tarini Bastralaya during the raid. A total of Rs 25,000 fine were collected from the customers, informed the BMC Assistant Commissioner.
This is the second time the city municipal corporation has sealed the store for not adhering to the Covid guidelines.
The BMC South East Zone enforcement squad also sealed OMFED stalls in various locations of the city for violating the Covid guidelines and selling tea, tobacco and cigarettes.
Several shops in Bapuji Nagar Market were sealed as well and fined Rs 10,000 for violating the city municipal corporation order. The Bapuji Nagar Market has been sealed till July 1, 2021.
