Gazette notification for holding panchayat polls in Odisha published

The Odisha government today issued gazette notification for holding of panchayat elections in the state.

According to the gazette notification elections to gram panchayats, panchayat samitis and zilla parishads will be held in the state.

Now it’s for the State Election Commission to announce the dates for holding of elections to these local self-bodies.

Notably, the Panchayati Raj department had recently informed the SEC through letters about its preparedness for holding of panchayat and zilla parishad polls.

With the creation of the 603 new panchayats, the total number of panchayats has gone up to 6814 in the state.
