Girl molested in front of beau, attempts suicide in Odisha

Sambalpur: In a shameful incident, a girl was molested in front of her beau and the victim attempted suicide in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

Police arrested three accused in the incident and forwarded to court, which later sent to jail turning down their bail.

The accused were identified as Mohammad Akhtar, Joseph Barla of Bhutapada and Manoj Deep from Dandeipali of the district.

The incident took place in the broad day light on June 27 when the girl, a class X student, along with two other girls was coming to Badipali from Sindurapanka village. She met her boy friend, who is a plus three student, at Dunguri near her village at around 12 noon.

According to reports, the couple were in love with each other and their family members had also agreed for their marriage after the girl turns adult.

Three accused found the couple talking with each other. Taking advantage of the situation, they threatened the couple at knife point and Akhtar dragged the girl to bushes where he along with his friends molested her. The friends of the couple, who were waiting for them just far off the location, rushed the village and called the locals.

However, the accused had fled when the villagers reached the spot. Out of discomfiture, the victim attempted to commit suicide by consuming kerosene. She was immediately rushed to Sadar hospital for treatment.
