Girl student killed, three injured as wall collapses in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, one girl student died and three others were injured after wall of an abandoned house near a school collapsed in Basudebpur area here in the district today.

The deceased was identified as Manasi Mallick, a class five student of Binayakpur Upper Primary School in Basudebpur. The injured boys included Jagannath Das, Siba Mallick and Bibhuti Mallick. They are studying in class IV at the same school.

The incident occurred when the students were playing near the school during recess period.

According to reports, the wall of an abandoned house near Binayakpur UP School collapsed on the students while they were plucking berries from a nearby tree.

Source said that the wall of an abandoned house affected in rain fell on the children, who were plucking berries from a tree on their way to the school after having lunch from home during recess.

While one girl student died, three boy students sustained injuries in the incident.

The injured students were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Basudebpur for treatment.

Earlier, several such incidents were reported in the past during monsoon.

In 2016, one student was killed and 28 others sustained injuries after a wall collapsed on the school premises in Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir (SSVM) at Basukera in Sakhigopal under Satyabadi block in Puri district.

A minor girl had died and four others were critical after the wall of Rengalbeda Sevashram in Riamala block of Deogarh district collapsed in September 2017.
