Girl student of Odisha residential school ‘gang raped’, teacher detained

Balasore: A minor girl student of a residential school in Soro area of Balasore district was allegedly gang raped by a teacher and two boy students on November 7. The matter came to light after father of the girl lodged a complaint at Soro police station today.

As per reports, two sisters of Basudebpur area were studying at a residential school in Soro. Couple of days back mother of the two girl students got to know that one of her daughters, who is studying Class VIII, has fallen ill.

The woman visited the residential school and found her elder daughter in a critical condition. She took the girl student to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for medical examination. When the condition of the minor girl worsened, she was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).

Based on the complaint, police registered a case and detained the teacher, Gajendra Das. Some students were also taken to the police station for quizzing about the matter and later released.

Balasore Additional SP visited the minor girl’s house and inquired the matter.
