‘Global Odia Mahotsav 2020’, a way to celebrate Odisha

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to celebrate Odisha and build brand Odisha globally, a two-day ‘Global Odia Mahotsav 2020’ was kickstarted today virtually. ‘The Odisha Society of the Americas’ in association with ‘The Odia Diaspora from Around The World’ launched the event during which key issues were discussed with participation from distinguished personalities.

The event is expected to promote and propagate language, culture and heritage of Odisha globally and develop a global synergy to contribute to various sectors such as Healthcare, Education, Tourism, Skill development, Entrepreneurship etc. This apart, the event has been organised to build a global network for inclusive progression of Odias around the world, said one of the organizers.

As part of the event, a seminar was held on ‘Role of Media: Media as a catalyst to connect Global Odia Diaspora with Odisha’ at 12 PM on the virtual mode. Following this the inaugural ceremony was held at 6:30 PM IST.

Distinguished Guests including Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik; Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb; Union Minister of India, Dharmendra Pradhan; Kenya Member of Parliament, Dr. Swarup R. Mishra; Odisha Higher Education Minister Dr. Arun K Sahoo and ICRISAT’s Country Director Dr. Arabinda K. Padhee presented their views on how Odias across the world can work together for propagate Odisha culture and heritage and contribute towards the world’s betterment.

At 9 PM IST, a seminar on ‘Ensuring Quality Higher Education For Future Generation’ was organized on the virtual mode. Prof Asoka Das, Vice Chairman, Odisha State Higher Education Council, Prof Ratnam V. Raja Kumar, Director IIT Bhubaneswar, Prof Sabita Acharya, Vice Chancellor of Utkal University; Dr Sasmita Samant, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of KIIT University; Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo, Vice-Chancellor of FM University were the participants in the seminar.
