Gold, silver worth over Rs 3 crore seized from vehicle in Odisha

Berhampur: Odisha police today seized smuggled gold and silver worth over Rs 3 crore from a vehicle in Berhampur.

Police sources said that the huge amount of gold and silver was being smuggled in a vehicle from Tamil Nadu to Berhampur.

According to reports, the Golanthara police detained a vehicle suspecting its movement in front of the police station early in the morning today. During search, they found a secret chamber behind the rear seat containing huge quantity of silver and gold.

They seized 4.664 kg gold and 185.5 kg silver whose market value is around Rs 3.10 crore.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the huge amount of gold and silver was being carried in the Karnataka-registered four-wheeler from Tamil Nadu for delivery in Berhampur.
