Gold worth Rs 17 lakh looted from shop during broad daylight in Odisha

Sonepur: In a broad daylight heist, unidentified miscreants allegedly looted gold ornaments weighing 350 grams worth around Rs 17 lakh from a jewellery shop at Dunguripali in Odisha’s Sonepur district.

According to a complaint lodged by owner of the shop Pitambar Sahu with Dunguripali police, he had gone to his house for lunch after closing the shop around 2 PM yesterday, when the robbers broke the rear wall of the shop and decamped with the valuables.

He realised about the robbery as he came back to the shop in the evening around 5 PM and found the portion of the wall in a broken state.

Police have started an investigation into the incident and efforts were on by cops to identify and nab the looters.
