Bhubaneswar: Good news for air travellers! Queuing up at the check-in counters for boarding pass will soon be a thing of the past as self service check-in counters were put up at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital.
As many as five Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) kiosks were provided at Terminal 1 (domestic) of the airport, an official said.

The facility was inaugurated by BPIA Director S C Hota in presence of officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
“The facility will reduce check-in time at the counters and avoid inconvenience to passengers travelling only with hand baggage,” said Hota.
He also said passengers can get their own boarding passes and choose their own seats. “Self service check-in kiosks will help expediting the check-in process which will increase the airport’s capacity,” the director added.
To get the boarding pass, a passenger would have to feed in their PNR number using the touchscreen of the system and other details and select a seat of their choice from the seating chart.
The boarding pass will be generated and printed immediately.
After that, one can directly head for security check-in. The kiosk that cost Rs. 20 lakh is designed to meet International Air Transport Association (IATA’s) CUSS specifications.
“The number of kiosks will be increased to cater to the needs of all passengers and airlines,” Hota informed.
