Good news! Parking fee exempted at Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar: Here’s good news for the air passengers entering into or leaving the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) as they will not have to pay the parking fee for their vehicles.

In a bid to provide hassle-free services, the Airports Authority of India has decided not to charge a parking fee for the vehicles entering into the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here.

As per a new policy issued by the AAI on December 10 for the Bhubaneswar airport, there will be no free time limit system for parking or entry of vehicles at the BPIA, said Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha in the Rajya Sabha.

In a reply to BJD MP Prasanna Acharya in the upper house of Parliament, the minister said, “AAI has recently issued new vehicle parking policy on Dec 10 for Bhubaneswar airport. In the new policy, the concept of free time limit has been removed. As per the new policy, vehicle (except commercial vehicles going to arrivals) going to pick-up/drop lanes will not be charged any parking/entry/access fee.”

Notably, at the airports managed by the AAI, there is a free time limit for a vehicle to pick and drop passengers during which no fee is charged. The parking/entry fee is charged only from a vehicle which overstays beyond the free time limit.

With the new rule to come into force, the vehicles entering into the airport for pick-up or drop the passengers at the parking lane will not be charged. However, the commercial vehicles will be exempted to avail free parking service in the new policy.
