Goods train catches fire in Odisha

Balasore: A coal-laden goods train caught fire at Bahanaga railway station under East Coast Railway (ECoR) jurisdiction here in Balasore district today.

Two fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the flame.

According to reports, the fire broke out at a wagon of the coal-laden train, which was en route to Nimpura from Paradeep, at Bahanaga station.

“A goods train namely NKKH was stationed at Bahanaga at 1.50 am yesterday. Our staff noticed smoke coming out of one wagon at 10.30 am following which we informed the Soro fire brigade that reached here at 11.00 am to douse the flame,” said RN Behera, Bahanaga station manager.

However, it is not yet clear what caused the outbreak of fire in the goods train.
