Movement of trains on Jagdalpur-Visakhapatnam rail route has been stalled following the derailment of a goods train near Maliguda railway station between Jeypore and Koraput stations this morning.

While several trains on this route have been cancelled, Hirakhand Express which was on its way to Jagdalpur had to be short terminated at Koraput railway station.

According to Railway sources, an iron ore laden goods train going to Visakhapatnam from Bacheli railway station in Chhattisgarh derailed between Maliguda and Jirati railway station in Koraput district at 5.40 AM today.

While nine wagons of the goods train have been derailed, railway authorities have begun restoration work at the derailment site.

This being a single-line route all trains on this route has been cancelled.

Jagdalpur-Howrah Samaleswari Express after being detained at Jeypore railway station for a long while has been cancelled.

Similarly, Jagdalpur bound Hirakhand Express has been short terminated at Koraput. Hirakhand Express, however, will commence its journey to Bhubaneswar on scheduled time.

Besides, Jagdalpur-Durg Express has been cancelled for today.

Further, Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Passenger has been short terminated at Koraput and would return to Visakhapatnam.

On the other hand,Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Passenger would return from Kirandul. Efforts are on to restore normalcy on the section, said Railway authorities.
