Goods train derails near Brajrajnagar station in Odisha’s Jharsuguda, movement on Kolkata-Mumbai line hit

Following the derailment, movement of trains plying on Kolkata-Mumbai line via Jharsuguda was disrupted posing much inconvenience for passengers.

Brajrajnagar: Movement on Kolkata-Mumbai rail line was hit after a good train derailed at Lajkura near Brajrajnagar station in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district here today. The incident took place at around 11 am.

Sources said the good train was travelling from the loop line number 1 to main up line number 2 when coaches number 3 and 4 went off the rails at Lajkura. Following the derailment, movement of trains plying on Kolkata-Mumbai line via Jharsuguda was disrupted posing much inconvenience for passengers. Those travelling on the Howrah-Ahmedabad Express said they have been stranded for hours and having difficulties as there is no clear information on the resumption of the train services. “We were already late by three hours and now another hour has gone by. Railway staff are saying it could take another four hours,” said one of the passengers Saifful.

“The ACs are not working and we are stuck in the heat for last four hours. The delay has beome a regular affair,” said another passenger Aslam travelling to Surat.

As per reports, the repairs may take around four hours or more.
