Bhubaneswar: Gopal Das, accused in Naba Kishore Das murder case, had been approaching the former Health Minister for a job for his niece. The dismissed cop frequented the minister's house along with her and any untoward incident might have occurred during the visits, which cannot be ruled out.
This was claimed by senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra in a press conference today.
Interrogating Gopal's niece will bring more clarity on the issue and help in the ongoing probe, asserted the Balangir MLA.
Probably, Gopal’s family had then hatched a plan to eliminate the minister. It was manifested in his actions and subsequent behaviour. “Why did Gopal’s elder brother leave Brajarajnagar town and go to Berhampur soon after the crime was committed on January 29?” Mishra questioned.
Attempts are now being made to prove Gopal as mentally ill, in order to suppress the truth.
“Following the gun attack, Gopal’s wife told the media that he was suffering from mental disorders. A doctor, who treated him eight years ago, immediately recognised him as his patient. The ruling BJD is scared that the truth might drag the party into trouble,” the Congress leader expressed.
Meanwhile, responding to the Congress Legislature Party leader's remarks, Naba Das' daughter Dipali Das reacted, "The statements recently made by raising questions on my departed father's character have hurt me and my family as well. Sir (Narasingha Mishra), you were a close associate of my father and have worked together when he was in Congress. Such things do not look good on you."
“Please come forward with concrete evidence, if any, and place those before the court,” Dipali appealed to Mishra.
