Governor and Chief Minister greet people of Odisha on Diwali

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today greeted the people on the occasion of Diwali.

Taking to official ‘X’ handle, the Governor Odisha wrote, “Hon’ble Governor Shri @dasraghubar wishes everyone a very #HappyDeepavali. May the festival of lights illuminate your life with hope and happiness.”

On his personal ‘X’ handle, the Chief Minister said, “On the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights, greetings to all the brothers and sisters of the State. May the light of development illuminate the lives of all. #ଶୁଭଦୀପାବଳି #HappyDiwali.”

Worth mentioning, Odisha Pollution Control Board (OPCB) has imposed restrictions on the bursting of firecrackers in the State on Diwali.

Green firecrackers alone are permitted and the crackers having barium nitrate have been prohibited.

The move came close on the heels of the Apex Court order on Tuesday clarifying that the ban on firecrackers containing barium nitrate binds every state and is not just limited to Delhi-NCR region.

People in Odisha will be allowed to burst permissible crackers between 6.00 am and 10.00 pm on Diwali.
