Bhubaneswar: The state government has initiated process to fill up 80,000 vacant posts under various departments in Odisha.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja took stock of the vacant posts in various government departments on July 3 and asked the officials concerned to start the recruitment process at the earliest.

Notably, as many as 1.34 lakh posts under various government departments are lying vacant in the state.

According to sources, the state government has decided to bring massive reforms in the recruitment process in Odisha.

The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) has been asked to conduct a combined recruitment examination for posts that require similar educational qualifications.

Besides, the agencies and officials concerned have been asked to do away with certain unnecessary procedures in the recruitment process.

The General Administration Department has sent a letter in this regard to the concerned agencies.

“As per the existing rules, candidates for the post of Livestock Inspectors are required to undergo cycling test. This cycling test is no longer required in the recent days. The state government has decided to abolish similar unnecessary procedures in the recruitment process,” said a source.
