Khordha: Raising serious concerns on the state of education, a government official was made to do sit-ups by irate villagers after he was caught selling books to a scrap dealer in Khordha district of Odisha. The shameful incident came to light after a video of the education official being punished by locals went viral on social media. The accused was identified as Bolagarh Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) Manmohan Mishra.

As per reports, a  book distribution centre was opened at Deuli  High School in Bolagarh from where the supplies were provided to various schools in the block free of cost. However, Bolagarh CRCC Mishra was caught by villagers while he was selling the books to a scarp dealer. After the shocking revelation, the angry locals made him hold his ears and do sit-ups, a clip of which has gone viral.

On getting information, Bolagarh block education officer (BEO) Niranjan Sahu directed additional BEO Siddheswa Sahu to visit the spot and inquire into the matter. A report later submitted by the ABEO confirmed the incident.
