Bhubaneswar: The state government will set up clod stores in all sub-divisions of Odisha for the benefit of farmers.
This was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today.
The Chief Minister made this announcement after holding discussions with various farmers’ outfit at Krushi Bhawan, the headquarters of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, in the capital city here.
Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister KV Singh Deo and departmental secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee were present at the meeting.
“The state government will take steps for the setting up of a cold store in each sub-division of Odisha for the benefit of farmers. In the initial phase, cold stores will be set up in 58 sub-divisions of Odisha,” said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister revealed that the state government is framing rules for inclusion of all eligible farmers in the state under PM Kisan Yojana.
“The state government will soon introduce the Samrudhha Krushak Niti Yojana to provide all assistance to the farmers starting from the sowing of seeds to marketing of their produce,” he said.
The farmers’ outfits have thanked the Chief Minister for the state government’s decision to buy paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal from farmers in Odisha.
