Govt vehicle fined in Odisha capital for violating traffic rules

Bhubaneswar: A vehicle of Enforcement Squad of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was today fined in Odisha capital for flouting traffic norms under the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act, 2019.

Concerned police officials intercepted the vehicle, a pickup truck, at NALCO Square here and asked the BMC staffers to produce documents of the vehicle.

Later, a fine of Rs 15,000– Rs 10,000 for lacking permit and Rs 5,000 for carrying passengers in goods vehicle– was imposed.

It may be recalled here that an auto-rickshaw driver was fined a whopping Rs 47,500 for violating a slew of traffic rules in the city, yesterday.
