Gram Nyayalaya inaugurated in Odisha’s Malkangiri district

Cuttack: Orissa High Court Chief Justice S. Muralidhar inaugurated a Gram Nyayalaya at Korukunda in Malkangiri district of Odisha through videoconferencing today.

High Court Justice MS Raman, who is also the Administrative Judge of Malkangiri judgeship, and other judges were present on the occasion.

Malkangiri District and Sessions Judge Ajanta Sarangi, Collector Vishal Singh, SP Nitesh Wadhwani, District Bar Association President Prakash Chandra Mohanty among others participated in the event through virtual mode.

The Gram Nyayalaya at Korukunda is the 19th rural court of the 24 such facilities notified by the state government, sources said.

“The Gram Nyayalaya at Korukunda will play an important role in providing justice to the people of remote areas of Malkangiri at their doorstep,” said Justice MS Raman.

The Chief Justice congratulated the lawyers and judicial officers of Malkangiri on the occasion.

“The Gram Nyayalaya at Korukunda will make the people of remote areas of Malkangiri to realize that the judicial system also works for them. The judicial system should acknowledge people’s problems and work accordingly to mitigate such miseries,” said the Chief Justice.
